#1 What are you putting up with right now?

We created our first 48h Büro on a pedestal in front of the town hall of Mainz. The town hall was designed by Arne Jacobsen and Otto Weitling and is – together with the event hall next to it – a concrete building of modern architecture. Our studio was set with a great view of the river Rhine and with the sun shining we started our first day of work.

As part of the week-long event PUTPUTPUT organized by students and alumni from the Kunsthochschule Mainz, we created an open call where we asked for input to create output. To constrain the variability of results, we limited the input to one word, asking the question »what are you putting up with right now?«⁣⁣. On the morning of the first day we discussed the input we got and our concepts for each poster; had some philosophical discussions about »temporeality« and »homo«; experimented with words; missed the perfectness of adobe illustrator; conquered the sun and interacted with all the people who passed by and asked about the project.

The second day started grey and a little bit rainy. Around noon the rain got so intense that we had to relocate our studio into the art academy. We finished our posters and built an exhibition showcasing the results of our work. Our Happy Hour Vernissage was taking place outside in the inner courtyard of the academy, where we enjoyed the rest of the evening with a feast and the amazing putputput-collective.
